How to Organize Instagram Saved Posts and Reels
Updated November 2026 · By the Bookmark team
Saving a reel takes one tap. Finding it again three months later can take twenty minutes. Instagram gives you a decent tool for this, as long as you set it up before the pile gets big.
Where your saves live
Open your profile, tap the menu, and choose Saved. Everything you have saved sits there, with reels and photo posts mixed together in All Posts.
Use collections, but keep them few
Collections are private folders inside Saved. To file a post as you save it, press and hold the save icon and pick a collection. Menus change from time to time, so yours may look slightly different.
The mistake most people make is creating too many. Start with four or five that match what you actually do with saves:
- Cook: recipes you plan to make
- Go: places, restaurants and trips
- Buy: products you are considering
- Learn: tips and tutorials
Clean up an old pile in 15 minutes
- Set a timer. You will not finish, and that is fine.
- Start with your newest saves, since they are the most likely to still matter.
- Move anything useful into a collection.
- Unsave anything you would not miss.
Where collections stop working
Collections depend on you sorting every save, and they rely on your memory of where you put things. Thumbnails are also all you get to browse by. That is hard when you remember the idea ("that pasta with lemon") but not the creator or the date.
They also only cover Instagram. Your TikToks, links and screenshots still live somewhere else.
Another option: keep what matters outside the app
This is the problem we are building Bookmark for. Share a reel to it from Instagram and add a few words, such as "lemon pasta for Friday". You can then search for it in your own words, alongside everything else you saved from other apps.
You saved it. Now find it.
